Red Hawks riders carve up the COSSA competition

It was a podium sweep for the Red Hawks snowboarding team on Friday at the Sir Sam’s Ski and Ride location during the Central Ontario Secondary School Athletics Championship.

Led by last week’s Kawartha champion Mac Moynes who repeated his golden performance  the  Hawks took the top three positions with Zak Shantz in second and Glenn Bagg who was edged out by less than half  a second for third. Shantz jumped onto the podium after his 22nd placing in Kawartha while Bagg repeated his bronze placing from Kawartha.

Dakota MacDonald who won silver at the Kawartha Championship led the Lady Hawks with a second place. Teammate Christine Bishop wasn’t far behind in fourth and equalled her Kawartha finish.
The combined times of MacDonald Bishop and Brynn Meyers  earned Haliburton a gold in the girls’ team event edging out Fenelon Falls by three seconds.
The boys’ team won silver in the team competition.
