Two in hospital following motorcycle collision in Highlands East

The driver of a motorcycle suffered life-threatening injuries and a passenger received non-life-threatening injuries following a collision on Highway 118 north of Thunderbird Drive in Highlands East on Sunday June 16 just before 4 p.m.


OPP officers from the Bancroft and Haliburton Highlands detachments attended the accident along with the Haliburton County Paramedic Services Hastings Quinte Paramedic Services and the Highlands East Fire Department.


The motorcycle was destroyed by fire police say.

The road was closed for about 10 hours while technical collision investigators from the OPP worked to determine the cause of the collision.

The driver and passenger of the motorcycle were taken to Bancroft hospital and the driver was flown by Ornge air ambulance to another hospital due to his injuries.

The cause of the collision is under investigation.
