During the early morning hours on the June 24 members of the Ontario Provincial Police Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau – Drug Enforcement Unit Community Drug Action Team OPP Tactical Response Unit Emergency Response Team and Canine Unit attended an address in the community of Cardiff for the purposes of executing a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act search warrant.
Inside the residence police located a quantity of cocaine cannabis marijuana and a large quantity of money. The value of the cocaine is estimated at being over $1700. Two individuals were also located inside the residence. They were arrested and transported to the Bancroft OPP Detachment.
Charged with possession of a schedule I substance (cocaine) for the purpose of trafficking; possession of a schedule II substance (cannabis marihuana under 30 grams); and possession of property obtained by crime are a 34 year old from Whitby and a 24-year-old woman from Highlands East.
Both were released from custody on a Promise to Appear and an Officer in Charge’s Undertaking with conditions and given a first appearance date of Aug. 11.
