A small cottage and two sheds were lost in a fire on Redstone Lake over the weekend.
Dysart Fire Department responded to the fire on Hunter Island just before 8 p.m. on Saturday, May 26 and found the structures fully engulfed.
Fourteen firefighters responded to the call and worked to put out the blaze until about midnight.
“[The] fire department returned Sunday to check the scene and had to put out one remaining hot spot,” said fire chief Mike Iles in an email to the Echo.
No injuries were reported and no one was at the cottage at the time of the fire.
“As for the cause of the fire, it is not deemed suspicious, but cause is undetermined,” Iles said. There was a thunderstorm at the time, but the department has not yet confirmed the source of the fire.
