The Haliburton County Echo is in the top three for five categories in the Ontario Community Newspaper Association’s Better Newspapers Competition.
The nominees were announced on Friday Feb. 12.

The Haliburton County Echo has been nominated for the General Excellence award for its circulation category.

In addition reporter/photographer Darren Lum has been nominated for the Photographer of the Year award and Best Feature Series for his “Where are they now?” series.

The Echo has also been nominated for Best Front Page layout and Best Use of Process Colour in an advertisement.

Sister paper The Minden Times has been nominated for General Excellence in its category and feature writing. Steve Galea is nominated for Humour Columnist of the Year.

The rankings will be announced at a gala on April 22.
