Thousands without power due to pole fire

Power had been partially restored to more than 5000 people at 12:30 p.m. today with 5690 still being affected after a pole fire caused an unexpected outage to just over 11000 customers in Haliburton County this morning.
Estimated restoration time posted to the HydroOne Storm Centre web site at 12:30 p.m. was by 4:30 p.m. today.
An outage map showed the outage reached from Irondale to Wilberforce toward Minden and Carnarvon including Lochlin and those living north of Redstone Lake.
The Haliburton Highlands Family Health Team medical offices posted on social media that they are still open but have no water or access to electronic medical records.
The Haliboo Music Festival set to take place in Head Lake Park will run off of generators and is expected to start late but still go on according to a source at the venue. Food vendors were using generators as well and were in operation as of 12:30.
The Dysart branch of the Haliburton County Public Library was closed due to the outage.
