Dysart et al Update: April 1

The following is the update from the Municipality of Dysart et al as of April 1 2020 at 3:30 p.m.

The Dysart et al Emergency Control met again this morning as scheduled.

The Haliburton County COVID-19 Assessment Centre opened to the public yesterday with testing available by appointment only. More information can be accessed via this link: https://www.dysartetal.ca/wp- content/uploads/2020/03/HC- CAC-March-30-Press-Release.pdf

Pothole patching is a continuous job for our crew but these patches don’t last long in the spring so please have patience and drive for the conditions until the frost retreats and things start to dry up. This happens each spring and it is important to keep in mind that the mud will soon dry up potholes will be filled roads will be graded and construction will continue into the summer season.

There are a number of ways to pay your taxes while the Administrative Office is closed. Please visit Dysart’s Finance webpage to learn more: https://www.dysartetal.ca/ portfolio-view/finance/ .

We would like to encourage the public to take advantage of Dysart’s beautiful outdoors while maintaining a safe distance of two metres from others. Please keep in mind that all playgrounds equipment recreational facilities sports fields picnic shelters basketball courts ball hockey rinks and our skate park are closed to the public until further notice.

Unless otherwise noted Dysart et al bylaws are still in effect. The Emergency Control Group would like to remind the public of the following:

1. No Daytime Burning: Effective today burning will be prohibited between the hours of 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. Due to concerns with personal interaction and the time commitment required by our fire services during this critical time no daytime burn permits will be issued at this time. Please help reduce unnecessary calls to our Fire Department by abiding with our burning regulations.

2. Care and Control of Dogs: We encourage the public to enjoy the great outdoors during this uncertain time and we understand that dogs need walks too! We would like to remind everyone to kindly respect your neighbours and ensure that your dogs are kept on leash when out in a public space or in an enclosed area on your personal property. Dogs are not permitted to run at large and could be impounded if caught and dog waste must be picked up when it is ‘deposited’ on a property that is not your own.

3. Firework Regulations: The Municipality regulates the dates and permitted times for the setting off of consumer fireworks within Dysart et al. Please be mindful that fireworks are only permitted on New Year’s Eve and the weekends of Victoria Day Canada Day and the Civic Holiday.

The Dysart Administration Office remains closed to the public but staff are all available to respond via email or phone. Please contact the appropriate staff member as listed on our website at www.dysartetal.ca . The phone number for the Administration Office is 705-457-1740.

For current updates please continue to monitor our website ( www.dysartetal.ca ) as well as the County of Haliburton page at www.haliburtoncounty.ca/ covid-19 .

Finally we would like to mention that we have witnessed some fantastic examples of our community banding together and supporting each other during this time. We encourage everyone to take time for themselves to stay home and stay healthy and to check in with their friends and loved ones remotely via phone email or video chat. We are stronger when we work together even when we’re physically apart!
