Following the death of an owner Brad Williams Haliburton’s junior A team is up for sale Stephane Laveault told the Echo .

“We’re working on a few things right now” said Laveault who identified himself as the general manager of the Wolves and has been listed as an owner himself in the past.

“Brad Williams was the main owner and he passed away” Laveault said explaining that Williams had been sick for most of this past season with pancreatic cancer.

“He only got to see one game [of the Wolves]” he said. Williams was 61 when he passed away Feb. 11.

Laveault said he hasn’t been happy with the GMHL and intends on being part of a new league called the Canadian Premier Junior Hockey League which he is helping start.

According to the GMHL website the Wolves along with Williams’s other teams and the Grey County Grizzlies are no longer part of the league and will not be rejoining in 2016-2017.

Laveault says he hopes someone will purchase the Wolves in the meantime.

“It’s a great town for that. It’s a beautiful town” he said of Haliburton.

Williams owned the Bobcaygeon and Coldwater GMHL teams and those are also for sale Laveault said.

To rumours that the Wolves team is folding Laveault said: “Definitely no it’s not. That was never the intention.”
