The Haliburton County Red Wolves held their annual recognition awards ceremony on May 7 in the great hall at Fleming College’s Haliburton campus where 70 people applauded the efforts of the members and volunteers who make everything possible.
Thirty-three athletes received a participation pin in their respective sports. Some athletes participated in all four sports. None of this is possible without the more than 20 volunteers who give their time and spirit to the team. Haliburton Highlands OPP Const. Tim Negus helped to present the awards.

Celebrating 20 years in Haliburton County the Wolves honoured founder Linda Brandon who started the Haliburton County Red Wolves in 1997 with five-pin bowling. She retired in 2006 to pursue her teaching career. Over the next 20 years softball curling and golf were added. Linda was presented with a floral bouquet and a Special Olympic mug by Wolves’ eldest member Ross Anderson 71.
The following athletes were presented with medallions associated with five-pin bowling: men’s high score Jason Cochrane; women’s high score Andrea Austin; men’s high average Jason Cochrane women’s high average Skylar Pratt; most improved men’s Jeffrey Coulson; most improved women’s Lisa Burk; sportsmanlike conduct men’s Lucas Anderson; sportsmanlike conduct women’s Dawn Piercey.

The Red Wolves would like to thank all the dedicated volunteers for providing these sports opportunities.
