As we have all been watching with horror as Alberta burns and grieving for the people the animals and the trees I can’t help but think of how catastrophic a wildfire would be for the Haliburton Highlands.
Our forests are also vulnerable with the mild winter we’ve had and many of our homes are in close proximity to forested areas. That’s one reason we love living in Haliburton.
Personally I don’t think we can afford the risk of an accidental fire caused by fireworks campfires or carelessly tossed cigarette butts. Please everyone use extra caution.
