The provincial government is making funding available for the replacement of a bridge in Wilberforce although the completion of the project would require the federal government to also produce funding.
On Friday Haliburton-Kawartha Lakes-Brock MPP and Ontario Infrastructure Minister Laurie Scott made an announcement the government was “nominating” the South Wilberforce Bridge replacement project for nearly $470000 in provincial funding through the rural and northern stream of the Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program.
“These projects will help improve and maintain our great road bridge air and marine infrastructure to help get people to work and home safely so they can spend more time with the people they love here in Highlands East and across the province” Scott said in a release.
The Municipality of Highlands East would contribute nearly $95000 and the federal government is being asked to contribute nearly $845000. The Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program entails projects being funded by all three levels of government. The provincial government has also announced it would make funding available for bridge replacement projects in Algonquin Highlands and Minden Hills but the projects must still be reviewed and approved by the federal government.
