On Sunday March 23 at 6:50 a.m. Ontario Provincial Police officers from the Haliburton Highlands detachment responded to a snowmobile collision on Allen Lake in Dysart et al. Allen Lake is located within Harcourt Park.
A male was operating a 2010 Arctic Cat snowmobile with a female passenger when they struck a tree near the shoreline. The male driver Kevin Ferguson 35 from Blackstock Ont. succumbed to his injuries at the scene. The female passenger Tamara Mothersill 40 from Peterborough sustained life threatening injuries and was air lifted to a Toronto area hospital.
The names of those involved are being withheld until next-of-kin notifications have been completed. The collision is under investigation by OPP technical collision investigators. It appears at this time that speed may have been a factor in the collision.
