Update from Dysart et al: April 9

The following is an update from the Municipality of Dysart et al for April 9 2020 at 11:30 a.m.

The Emergency Control Group would like to offer some information as we go into Easter weekend.

Firstly we understand that for many this is typically a time to gather with family and friends. We would like to urge everyone to reach out to loved ones via telephone or video chat and restrict their face-to-face socialization to members of their immediate household. In the words of Queen Elizabeth “we will be with our friends again we will be with our families again we will meet again” but for now we must sit tight.

Please keep in mind that the Province has designated the entire legislated fire region of Ontario a Restricted Fire Zone which means that all outdoor fires are prohibited in Haliburton County. If you notice a failure to comply with this order please report to the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry by calling 310-FIRE (310-3473).

The Province has announced that short term rentals are not an essential service and therefore not permitted at this time. While our local rental agencies have communicated to the public that they are ceasing operations private rentals may still exist. If you notice this activity taking place or witness the gathering of more than five people please reach out to the OPP at 1-888-310-1122. If you wish to file a report regarding non-compliance under the Quarantine Act contact Public Health Agency of Canada: www.canada.ca/en/public-health

If you have questions about whether or not a business is considered essential and should be operating the “Stop the Spread Business Information Line” has been set up by the Province at 1-888-444-3659. You can also call this line if you own a business and want information on how best to proceed with operations.

Please stay safe stay healthy and if you can stay home
