Haliburton residents looking for coffee with a little oomph are now able to get a drink with their name on it.

The Hali Latte – Balzac’s espresso steamed milk and locally produced maple syrup –  is on offer at Up River Trading Co.’s newest location at 211 Highland Street. The Haliburton location of the popular Minden cafe and gift shop opened on April 15 with a soft launch at the former location of the Highlands Pharmacy which has moved next door.

“We feel that what we’ve built in Minden is a meeting place an experience and we want to bring the same to Haliburton” said Paul Roy who co-owns the business with Mike McKeon. “The time is right now to expand into Haliburton.”

The Minden business also expanded into the building next door on Bobcaygeon Road last summer.

“We’ve had great success and have been really supported and warmly received by the community” said Roy.

Roy said the stores will offer the same core assortment of products and menu items but will offer unique items at each location as well for customers to enjoy both spaces differently.

“It’s the full experience – people can mingle over a cup of coffee catch up with friends and shop for interesting gift items and accessories” he said.

Both Up River Trading Co. locations are open 8:45 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday to Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday. Hours will be extended during the summer months.
