TLDSB welcomes new superintendent

Atlast night’s board meeting trustees approved the appointment ofDave Golden as a new Superintendent of Education for TrilliumLakelands District School Board.


Due to the upcoming retirement ofEarl Manners from the senior administration team in August DiannaScates will become the Superintendent of Human Resources in the nextschool year leaving the vacancy for school superintendent.


Goldenwill be based out of the Muskoka Education Centre in Bracebridge.


“Welook forward to welcoming Dave as a superintendent for TLDSB” saidDirector of Education Larry Hope.


“Dave’sprofessional knowledge and skills combined with his excellentinterpersonal skills and ability to forge strongrelationships will make him a wonderful addition to our senioradministration team.”


Goldenattended Bracebridge and Muskoka Lakes Secondary School (BMLSS) andthen began his career in Muskokaas a supply teacher. He then spent 12 years working in the Peelregion as a special education teacher guidancecounsellor program leader for alternate education as well as a viceprincipal for two years.


While in Peelas part of a special education program he named the support area the“Muskoka Room.” Golden returned toBracebridge as a vice principal at BMLSS from 2002 to 2006 and wasprincipal at the same school until 2014 whenhe was appointed to District Principal of Alternative Education forthe Board.


“Thisis a fantastic opportunity and I’m excited about meeting the needsof staff students families and school communitiesin this new role” stated Golden. “It will be a privilege toserve in this capacity working with system leadersto ensure that all students have the support they need to besuccessful.”


Golden’ssuperintendent responsibilities are effective Sept. 1 but he will beinvited to participate in

seniorteam meetings for the remainder of this school year and to assist inplanning for the upcoming school year.
