Emergency responders were kept busy this past weekend as three separate snowmobile accidents occurred in the Haliburton Highlands.
According to the OPP on Friday March 10 officers responded to a collision at Haliburton Forest which involved a snowmobile hitting a tree.
“The driver of the snowmobile lost control of the snowmobile and struck a tree. The driver was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries” a news release issued by the OPP says.
Two separate collisions occurred on March 11 at Haliburton Forest one resulting in serious injuries and the other in non-life-threatening injuries.
“A driver of a snowmobile lost control of the snowmobile he was driving and struck a tree” the release says.
The driver was taken to the hospital and then later airlifted to Toronto. OPP are investigating.
The second incident on Saturday involved a snowmobiler losing control of his vehicle and being thrown from the machine. The driver was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
OPP Const. Tim Negus confirmed that Ornge transported the two drivers from Saturday’s accidents to Toronto.
“The conditions of the trails were reported to be slippery in places by those involved” he said.
