Police presence was seen around the Indian Point Road area, as well as separately outside Valu-Mart in Minden. /DARREN LUM Staff The Special Investigations Unit is investigating a “fatal police-involved shooting in Haliburton Highlands” the civilian agency tweeted on the afternoon of Wednesday July 15.
The tweet comes following a morning of heavy police presence at Indian Point Road off Harburn Road north of the village of Haliburton as well as an incident at the Valu-Mart grocery store in Minden also on the morning of July 15.

Police are investigating a “serious criminal offence” a video tweeted by the Central Region OPP says. They say there is no concern for public safety.

The assistant manager of Valu-Mart told the Minden Times that the staff is safe following the incident but would not confirm any details about what happened.
