The Polar Bear Challenge recently held by the Haliburton and District Lions Club as part of the annual Dysart Frost Festival was a resounding success with approximately $6900 collected for two hospitals The Hospital for Sick Children (Toronto) and the HHHS Foundation. But and this is a big but it could not have been held without the support and assistance of the Dysart fire department the Algonquin Highlands fire department Haliburton Timber Mart (the loan and placement of the two changing/warming sheds) Emmerson Rent-All (generator for the heaters) MC Mike Jaycock and sound system operator Ron Murphy and prizes freely donated by Sir Sam’s Ski McKecks Haliburton Foodland and The Source Electronics. I never cease to be amazed by how great folks step up to help in this community. Thank you to you all and to the 29 brave “dippers” who collected the pledges.
