MooseBar and Grill could open this summer
The Wigamog has a new owner.
The Aurora family which recently purchased Pinestone Resort and Conference Centre announced in a press release March 3 that they had purchased the historic resort on Kashagawigamog Lake near Haliburton.
“We have some great ideas of what this property can look like in the future. Buying this resort made so much sense for the future of Pinestone and for area tourism. This is an investment in our area economy and community" said Ravi Aurora in the release.
The Wigamog has been closed for the last five years.
"This is achance to reset the tourism clock” say John Teljeur GM ofPinestone Resort. He will oversee the new acquisition.
“We areexcited for the collaborative potential of both properties areatourism and the jobs it could bring to the Haliburton Highlands.”
The building and property are still being assessed but the release says that the Moose Bar and Grill and some of the rooms could be open by mid summer.
The release also notes that there are upcoming changes at Pinestone including spring construction of a new commercial development at the old Bennett Motors. A gas station and touchless car wash are planned for the site with the possibility of a chemical-free dry cleaners restaurant and medical facility on the same site in the future.
The Aurora Hotel Group also owns other accommodations properties in Ontario the release says including theSheraton Four Points in Brantford (currently under renovation) and theHoliday Inn Express in Huntsville.
