O'Reilly dominates COSSA OFSAA bound

The Haliburton Highlands Secondary School Wrestling Team continued to perform well during the championship run.

On Wednesday Feb. 17 13 Red Hawks competed at the COSSA (Central Ontario Secondary School Athletics) Wrestling Championships hosted by Kenner Collegiate and Vocational Institute in Peterborough. At the end of the day nine HHSS wrestlers were ranked among the top four of their respective weight classes.

Shane O’Reilly went undefeated in the 83 kilograms division and returned as the COSSA champion. O’Reilly advances to the OFSAA (Ontario Federation of School Athletic Associations)  Championship along with teammates AJ Gillam (77 kilogram) and Sonora Plumb (51 kilogram).  The OFSSA Championships are held in Windsor Ontario on Feb. 29 to March 2.

Silver medal: Sonora Plumb (51 kilogram) Rebecca Hamilton (54 kilogram)
Bronze medal: AJ Gillam (77 kilogram) Emily Klose (64 kilogram) Shelby Murdoch (67.5 kilogram)
Fourth place: Jackson Gartshore (51 kilogram) Sonya Flatman (54 kilogram) Zanna Zondervan (61 kilogram)
