Lobster lovers are in luck again this year as the Haliburton Rotary Club plans their second annual Lobsterfest fundraiser.
On Saturday June 11 the Haliburton Curling Club will be filled with classic tunes and incredible food all raising money for local charitable projects.
“It’s a unique fundraiser in this community” says Rotarian David Zilstra “There’s no other Lobsterfest event in Haliburton County.”
The dinner is taking place on the playing area of the curling club which will hold about 300 people and still allow space for dancing. There is also a cash bar run by the curling club.
Last year’s event “exceeded expectations” Zilstra says so the Rotary Club intends to maintain the format this year. That includes the ever-popular local band Custom Blend and catering by Molly’s Bistro Bakery from Minden. Haliburton Foodland is providing the lobsters.
For those who would rather not have lobster roast beef will be on the menu along with the side dishes and desserts.
This year there’s an option for ticket holders to dress up their tables however they’d like.
“In the afternoon prior to the event we’re encouraging those who have bought a table to give it a theme” Zilstra says. It could be something as simple as “summer celebration” or decorated to represent a business. Balloons plants special cutlery or place settings all welcome.
Tickets are $65 a person and are available at V&S in Haliburton (705-457-2715) or from any Rotarian.
Buy your ticket early to help the Rotary Club plan for the event. Doors open at 6 p.m. dinner is at 7 p.m.
