Letter: Name that train

Published March 12 2019

To the Editor

In celebration of the 100th year of the CNR I created a wintry scene with the Black Beauty that has graced your town since 1960. She was a workhorse and served the railway well in her time.  I thought this would be a timely fitting tribute to the “Steam Queen” which she was fondly named.

This painting was done with acrylics. It has a bit of a combination of fantasy and realism which is exactly what I love to incorporate into my work.

I thought it would be fun to have the town folks come up with a name that would make it meaningful. Something short and sweet would be great. Eventually once I make prints I will be giving the lucky winner a framed print which will include a small writeup about the history of 2616 and who was chosen to name that train!

The name will be chosen on April 1. So get your thinking cap on. You can send your suggestions to cindyeisenstadt123@gmail.com or call the Echo office (705-457-1037).
