One of Haliburton’s most iconic restaurants is up for sale.
The Kosy Korner owned by Ann and Alan Gordon was listed with Trophy Property Corp. on Dec. 21.
The decision was part of the five-year plan for the business said Ann who bought the restaurant from Janet and Jim Tice.
“I’ve owned it for five and a half years and I’ve done everything I want to do on it” she said in an interview with the Echo.
She said the staff at the Kosy will have no problem continuing the tradition the restaurant is known for.
The Kosy Korner was founded in 1935 in Haliburton Village and is the source of plenty of fond memories for local residents. It’s a favourite with cottagers during the summer and the place many go to catch up with their neighbours.
Ann said that will continue as she intends to choose the next owner carefully.
“It’s got to be the right person. We’ve got great staff great customers. I’m not going to ruin any of that. It’s going to be sold to the right person and somebody who’s going to carry on the tradition” she said.
Ann said she’d miss working at the restaurant but she’ll still be a regular fixture after the sale.
“I will [miss it] but I’m not moving anywhere so I’ll be in there still getting my turkey clubs” she said.
