The cause of a blaze that destroyed a dwelling on Amber Island on Kennisis Lake Tuesday is not known Haliburton firefighter and incoming fire chief Mike Iles says.
According to a release from Iles "11 firefighters responded by boat to a structure fire (and reported explosion) on an island at Kennisis Lake."
They couldn't save the building which had collapsed by the time they got there around 11:40 a.m. on May 31.
"Efforts were concentrated on keeping the fire from spreading into the bush" Iles says.
Firefighters remained at the property for three hours putting out hot spots. The fire marshal was called but will not be investigating.
There were no injuries reported and no one was home during the fire. Damage is estimated at $150000.
