Hydro One has confirmed that the youngman who died in an accident near Coleman Lake Road in HaliburtonCounty on March 21 was an employee of the utility.

According to the OPP at approximately10:25 a.m. on Thursday police received a call regarding theincident and attended the site along with Haliburton CountyParamedics. A 25-year-old man from Syndenham Ont. was transportedto hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

“It is with heavy hearts that weconfirm that one of our employees passed away from injuries sustainedon the job while doing forestry work in the Minden area” reads astatement from Hydro One. “Three other employees were treated inhospital and were released.”

No other details as to the nature ofthe accident were provided and the Ministry of Labour isinvestigating.

“We are deeply saddened by this lossand above all else our thoughts and condolences are with theemployee's family friends and colleagues” the statement reads.“During this grieving process we will do everything we can toassist family and teammates by providing counselling and support. Thesafety of our employees is paramount and Hydro One will fully supportthe Ministry of Labour in its investigation into the incident. Wewould like to thank the first responders and our employees onsitefor their brave efforts.”

Sydenham is a small town located nearKingston in the County of Frontenac.
