Highlands ski team shines at provincials

The Ski Cross season has ended on a high note for the racers from Fenninger Racing based out of Sir Sam’s Ski and Ride. At the Ontario Cup Provincial Championships held this past weekend at Beaver Valley Ski Club several Fenninger racers found the top of the podium.

Local racer Logan Baird won gold for the under-14 men and cottagers Reece Ralph and Ben Wheeler won gold in the open men and under-12 men’s category respectively. The season continues for Ralph who will be travelling to Red Mountain B.C. for nationals next weekend.

The season got underway in mid-January with the first O-Cup races being held at Sir Sam’s Ski and Ride continuing on to Craigleith Ski Club and Horseshoe Resort before the final race this past week at Beaver Valley. Throughout the season Fenninger racers dominated the O-Cup series landing on the podium at every event. Fenninger Racing is based out of Sir Sam’s and coached by Victoria Fenninger.

The ski team consists of local cottagers and residents all members at Sir Sam’s who train and race at the local hill. Congratulations to Anna Wheeler Isaac McLeish Lafleur Kieran Hutchinson Ben Wheeler Ezra Hill Logan Baird Kate Hutchinson Reece Ralph and coach Victoria for a fantastic season.
