The Storm spent the weekend in Elmvale and attended the Brian English Memorial Tournament. It began late Friday against the Listowel Cyclones which was an entertaining game and a 7-5 win for the Storm.
The next day the Highland Storm midget A team met with the Shelburne Wolves and grasped a 5-3 win.
The third game of the tournament the Highland Storm midgets met with the Midland Centennials and were defeated 2-0.
The Highland Storm midget A team met with hometown Elmvale Coyotes for the semi-final game. The evenly matched teams offered a well-played game of hockey with the Storm earning a 2-1 win in overtime.
The Storm midgets went against the Midland Centennials in the finals they worked hard did all they could but took second place losing 2-0.

The Haliburton Timber Mart Highland Storm vovice team hosted the Muskoka Rock for a double header in league game action in Minden on Saturday Oct. 29. The Storm scored early in the first period and dominated play from start to finish. It was another strong team performance with good passing positioning and skating. Strong defensive play kept the Rock off the scoreboard earning the netminder Hudson Horsley his first novice game shutout.
Coming off a big win in their first game the Haliburton Timber Mart Highland Storm novice team were looking to keep their winning streak alive. The Rock came out much stronger than in their first match up requiring the Storm to step up their defensive play and positioning. The Storm responded and were able to capitalize on some turnover opportunities. The Storm finished their day on top with all players adding to the final tally. A great first game performance by Leland Kainellos and Jacob Lloyd helped the Storm end their day with a win. Way to go team.
The Haliburton Timber Mart Highland Storm novice team were back on the ice on Sunday Oct. 31 facing off against the Kawartha Coyotes. The Storm scored early in the first period and were relentless with their offensive pressure and puck control. Their offensive charge was too much for the Coyotes to handle. The Storm moved the puck well and fought hard for the rebounds resulting in more tallies for the scoreboard. The Storm defense held a strong blue line providing ample scoring opportunities. A great finish to the weekend with all Storm players contributing to the scoreboard and another shut out for Chase Winder. The Haliburton Highland Storm Novice team are on the road this weekend when they travel to Grand Bend for some tournament action. Good luck team!

After having the previous weekend off the Leveque Brothers/Rock Breakers peewee girls travelled to Lakefield Saturday to take on Ennismore. In a tight first period the Jets sniped one past the goaltender scored by Elyse Ives assisted by Hailey Hudder and Emily Alexander. Not sitting comfortably with a one goal lead the Jets found the back of the net halfway through the second to open the lead to two scored by Olivia Villamere assisted by Emma Tidey. With a team effort the Jets potted three more goals for a final score of 5-0 goals scored by Chloe Billings (2) and Ryan Rupnow assists to Villamere Tidey and Hudder.
Sunday the girls played host to Otonabee in the first matchup of the season between these two teams. With another solid team effort and great goaltending the Jets downed the Wolverines 8-0 to give Bella Smolen her second shutout of the weekend. Goals were scored by Tidey (2) Ives (3) Ava Smith (2) and Hudder. Assists going to Ives (2) Hudder (3) Tidey (3) Smith (2) Alexander Rupnow Villamere and Avery Coens. Come cheer on the undefeated Jets girls Saturday in Haliburton at 6 p.m. when they take on their rivals the Peterborough Ice Kats.

The Bancroft IDA Red Eagle Family Campground midget B girls travelled to Keene on Saturday to play the always tough Wolverines in an afternoon match-up. After a scoreless first period Keene took a 1-0 lead late in the second period scoring the first goal of the season on the Jets. Bancroft used the deficit to fuel a comeback. Kenndal Marsden slipped a five-hole wrister past the Wolverine tender early in the third period to tie the game at 1-1. Both teams tried to score a winner breaking the tied
contest but neither squad could solve the riddle of their opposing goalie. The tie game keeps the Jets undefeated with a record of 4-0-1.
On Sunday afternoon in Bancroft the Jets hosted the Ennismore Eagles. The Jets looked to find an offensive gear and shake off their tie game – near first loss of the season as they took the ice against the Eagles. Jules Croskery opened the scoring with a beauty high blocker wrister midway through the first period. Croskery added her second and eventual game winner late in the first poking home a rebound to give Bancroft a 2-0 lead. Ennismore slipped a knuckleball bouncer into the Jets’ net midway through the second to add some pressure to the Bancroft squad. Sara Switzer fired a blue line wrister through a maze of traffic in front of the Eagle tender on the power play to restore the two goal lead at 3-1 early in the second. Kenndal Marsden made the score 4-1 late in the second bouncing a shot off the Ennismore goalie from behind the goal line.
Switzer added her second of the game midway through the third period finishing off a sweet rush with a forehand – backhand five-hole deke to make the final score 5-1. Great rebound effort girls.
The Jet’s next home home Friday Nov. 4 at 7 p.m. in Bancroft against the Cold Creek Comets is currently being investigated to see if it may be re-scheduled. Bancroft’s next two home games are on Saturday and Sunday Nov. 12 and 13 when they respectively host the Lindsay Lynx at 5 p.m. on Saturday and the Cold Creek Comets at 4:30 p.m. on Sunday.

The Pepper Mill restaurant sponsored Highland Storm bantam team played the Woodville Hurricanes in Minden on Friday Oct. 28. Unfortunately the Storm lost 4-1.
The only goal came from Nigel Smith unassisted in the second period.
The bantams battled hard against a team we had not played before they were just too strong for us this evening. We look forward to the rematch in Woodville Saturday Nov. 5.
The next home game for the Highland Storm bantam rep team is in Haliburton Friday Nov. 4 at 8 p.m. vs. The Kawartha Coyotes.

On Saturday Oct. 29 the JoAnne Sharpley’s peewee team took to the ice in Minden to play the Parry Sound Shamrocks. Parry Sound came out with a vengeance scoring on their first shift of the game. The Storm scored to tie it up with a goal by Dylan Keefer assisted by Nick Phippen and Hunter Winder. On the powerplay the Storm put in another with a goal by Winder assisted by Ty Mills. Going into the second period the Storm ahead 2-1 the Storm put in another scored by Winder assisted by Mills. Parry Sound kept putting on the pressure and managed to get one in putting the score at 3-2. The Storm kept driving the net and scored another with a goal by Mathias Lee assisted by Kyan Hall and Zander Upton. Heading into the third the Storm up 4-2 Parry Sound was looking to come back. With Parry Sound playing most of the third period on the powerplay keeping the pressure on Storm goalie Darian Maddock. The Shamrocks managed to get one by to make the score 4-3. With Maddock determined to get his team the win he stopped everything the Shamrocks threw at him with the final score ending 4-3. The peewees head to South Huron next weekend to play in a three-day tournament.

The Cottage Country Building Supplies/Ridgewood Ford Highland Storm atoms started their weekend with a double header vs the Parry Sound Shamrocks at home.
The first game the atoms played hard but lost 6-1. Taylor Consack saved an awesome 37 shots. Great job Taylor. The single goal was scored by Austin Boylan.
The second game the Storm lost to the Parry Sound Shamrocks 9-1. Goal scored by Avery Degeer.
On Sunday Oct. 30 they travelled to Bracebridge to vs the Bracebridge Bears. The boys played well but lost 4-2. Goals were scored by Aidan Perrott and Addison Carr.
The Cottage Country Building Supplies/Ridgewood Ford Highland Storm atoms travel to Omemee on Saturday Nov. 5 for a tournament. Also on Nov. 6 the CCBS/RF Highland Storm atoms travel to Huntsville for a game against the Huntsville Otters at 3:40 p.m.

This past Saturday saw the Parkview Dental/Canadian Tire Bantam Girls Jets host the Lindsay Lynx on home ice. During the first period the Jets applied pressure and kept most of the play down in the Lynx end. Both teams played hard with neither team scoring.
Period two saw the girls have to work even harder as at one point the Lynx had a two-man advantage. The team perservered and kept skating despite a few penalties and held the game scoreless.
During the third period the tables turned and the Lynx drew several penalties resulting in the Jets having the advantage. Wanting to win and shut down Lindsay Olivia Martin scored the first goal of the game assisted by Haley Goulet at the nine minute mark. About a minute later Kendra Bandy put one in the net from the point assisted by fellow defenceman Marissa Cannon.
Both teams played hard from start to finish. Courtney Semach refusing to be beat by the determined Lindsay team shut out the Lynx with a 2-0 final score.
If you would like to see the Jets in action come out and watch them play next weekend with two home games at the NHCC this coming weekend. The first on Saturday Nov. 5 the Jets will take on the Cold Creek Comets at 4:30 p.m. and on Sunday Nov. 6 against the Otonabee Wolverines at 4:30 p.m.
