The Source – Halco Electronics was the target of a break and enter in the early hours of Wednesday May 30. Culprits made off with cellphones and other high-value items – a total estimated worth of more than $10000.
According to the store’s owner Don van Nood the store’s security alarm was activated at 3:38 a.m. when the glass of the front door was smashed. Haliburton Highlands OPP received a report of a break and enter at the store at 4:05 a.m.
The glass in the front door of van Nood’s store located on Highland Street in Haliburton is now boarded up with pieces of cardboard. Broken shards of glass have been swept into two containers on the front stoop.
“I think they hit [the glass] with something like a shovel or a baseball bat” he said. “There was glass more than halfway through the store.”
Van Nood said this is the first time in 19 years he’s experienced a break-in.
The Haliburton Highlands OPP continues to investigate and is appealing to the public for help. If anyone has any information pertaining to the suspect(s) or the investigation please call the Haliburton Highlands OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
