Firefighters battle structure fire onMinnicock Lake Road

A structure fire during the early hoursof Jan. 10 had firefighters from both the Dysart and Highlands Eastdepartments battling to put out the blaze.

A release from Dysart fire chief MikeIles said the call came in at 3:47 a.m. and when firefighters arrivedat 4 a.m. they found a detached garage fully engulfed in flames aswell as a single storey house with the roof/attic on fire.

“Fifteen firefighters and six firetrucks from Dysart fire department and six firefighters and twopumpers from Highlands East fire department responded to the call”said Iles in the release. “Firefighters remained on scene until11:52 a.m. to extinguish the fire.”

According to the chief the garage was atotal loss including a car and an ATV that were inside.

“The house has some structureremaining but is a total loss” wrote Iles.

The chief estimates damage to be$275000. The cause of the fire is unknown.

No one was in the home at the time ofthe incident and there were no injuries as a result.
