A home on the Barry Line was lost in a fire on Friday June 8.

Eighteen firefighters from the Dysart Fire Department and Algonquin Highlands Fire Department worked for six hours to put out the blaze. They were first called to the residence at about 6:30 p.m. When they arrived the house was already engulfed in flames.

Val and Mike Balaski were home at the time and were able to get out of the house without injury. A smoke alarm alerted them to the fire.
