Firefighters worked to contain a fire after it consumed a Parsons Road dwelling off of Eagle Lake Road in Haliburton on Monday Oct. 23.
The Haliburton Fire Department arrived on the scene and were assisted by the Minden Hills Fire Department.
The Haliburton County paramedics were also on hand but were not required to administer immediate care.
In addition to the fire suppression related to the structure firefighters were also required to control fires that flared up in the surrounding wooded area. Hydro One personnel were requested to ensure the safety of the area because of downed live wires.
In a press release Haliburton fire chief Mike Iles said 14 firefighters and five trucks responded "but the fire had progressed too far upon arrival and [we] were unable to save any of the structure."
No one was home at the time of the fire and there were no injuries. Damage is estimated at $300000.
