To the Editor

Unfortunately recent newspaper articles and radio broadcasts have left the viability of Extendicare Haliburton and its role in our community in question.
The Ministry of Health and Long Term Care defines us as a Class C facility simply because  their standards for “bricks and mortar” upgrades due by 2025 remain unresolved at this time.
Overlooked is the fact that the quality of  our health care meets all applicable standards and is continually monitored  with our  Quality Improvement Plan.
In our 60 bed facility comprising 40 per cent of the total beds in the county there are 60 residents their families their caregivers and  their communities  with the  support of our well established  family of valued volunteers.
There is no doubt in our minds that Extendicare Haliburton will continue to flourish as a significant and integral part of  this community.
