Dysart et al Update: March 24


The following is the update from the Municipality of Dysart et al as of March 24 2020 at 3:30 p.m.

Dysart et al’s Emergency Control Group met again today to review the impacts of the Provincial order to close all non essential workplaces effective midnight tonight.

At this time in accordance with the order Dysart et al will continue to provide important municipal services including operating landfills maintaining the roads managing tax payments reviewing planning issues issuing permits etc. While the office remains closed to the public staff continue to be available to respond via email or by phone. Please contact the appropriate staff member as listed on our website at www.dysartetal.ca . The phone number for the Administration office is 705-457-1740.

A reminder that only Haliburton and West Guilford landfills can take construction materials and payment can only be made by debit or credit. At this time Harcourt can not accept construction material. West Bay and Kennisis Lake landfills remain closed until further notice.

All public facilities remain closed and all programming has been cancelled.

Interim property tax payments have been deferred without penalty to April 30 2020.

Council met this morning and updated the procedural bylaw to allow for virtual meetings and also passed a delegation of authority bylaw to allow decisions to be made faster during this emergency declaration period with the support of Dysart’s Emergency Control Group. This action ensures continuity of business operations during an emergency and is a common practice for municipal governments.
