On March 13 Fleming College announced that classes at all of its campuses including Haliburton School of Art + Design would be cancelled as a precautionary measure against infection and spread of the coronavirus or COVID-19.

The college released information specifying that classes would be suspended up to and including Tuesday March 17 giving staff the time to plan how to proceed with alternate delivery methods of their course content.

On Wednesday March 18 students will receive their instruction online or using other methods until the end of the semester which is April 17.

“The health and safety of our Fleming community are paramount” said Maureen Adamson president of the college “and we want to do our part and take precautions to maintain a healthy community for all.”

All campuses will remain open including libraries learning resource centres recreation centres food services and health services. Students will have access to campus but are encouraged to study from home if they do not need to come in.

Students who are on work placement were told to continue to attend unless the employer or the college had made other arrangements.

The college said it would post updates to flemingcollege.ca/covid19.
