One of the men involved in a December knife-point carjacking in Haliburton Village has pled guilty to charges and will serve another year and three months in jail.
A Foodland employee was warming up her car after she’d left work at 7 p.m. on Monday Dec. 28 when two men demanded she get out of her vehicle and run.

She complied and the two Haliburton County men were apprehended shortly after by police.

On June 20 Dustie Upton 51 at the time of the crime pled guilty to robbery with a weapon possession of a prohibited device and driving while disqualified said a spokesperson for the Ministry of the Attorney General.
On the robbery conviction Upton was sentenced to 729 days in jail but given credit for 264 days for the 176 days of pre-sentencing custody he’d served leaving 465 days remaining to serve.
For the robbery he was also ordered to pay $1630 in restitution a $200 victim surcharge and provide a DNA sample.
On the conviction for possessing a prohibited device Upton was sentenced to 90 days in jail to be served concurrently as well as ordered to pay a $100 victim surcharge.
For driving while disqualified Upton was given a 60-day sentence to be served concurrently as well as ordered to pay a $100 victim surcharge.
He will have a two-year driving suspension and will be on probation for three years.

His co-accused a Haliburton County man who was 48 at the time of the crime has a pre-trial in Lindsay in August.
